What does “No Copyright Anime Pictures” mean?

When people refer to “No Copyright Anime Pictures”, they often mean free pictures. But just because a picture is available for free on the internet, it does not mean you can do anything with it. The copyright holder defines what you can and cannot do with the artwork. We compare the two licensing schemes most people associate with “no copyright” for you.

Royalty free

Creative Commons

Creative Commons

There is something called Creative Commons (CC) though. CC is a licensing schema under which work can be used without of any charge. However, at the time of writing, we don’t know of any sources for CC anime pictures. We know there are some websites out there claiming to offer CC anime pictures, but when you see “Bleach” Artwork offered under a CC license, you can obviously tell that something is wrong there.

Royalty free

Another thing many people think of when they speak about No Copyright is actually royalty free anime pictures. Royalty free means that you pay once for the anime picture and are allowed to use it without being charged on a per use basis. Again, what you can and can’t do with that picture is defined by the license the copyright holder grants to you.

It’s on the internet, can I use it?

Just because an anime picture is available on the internet and it appears to be a “No copyright anime picture”, does not mean you can use it as you like.
If you find a picture which you genuinely love, the easiest way to make sure you’re allowed to use the anime picture is to ask the artist. For instance, on pixiv.net or deviantart.com you can find tons of great artists. Many of them will allow you to use their art for non-commercial purpose as long as you give attribution.

Anime stock pictures

Royalty free is the license model which many stock picture services offer. You often pay per picture or make a subscription to the service for unlimited downloads. But we think that when it comes to anime stock pictures, existing stock photo services fail to deliver on quality.
That is where we come into play. On anime-girl.com we specialize in those so-called “No Copyright Anime Pictures”. What we actually offer are royalty free anime stock pictures.
You configure the artwork, pay once and are allowed to use it forever within our very permissive license terms. After purchase, our anime stock pictures are free for use for private and many commercial use cases.
And if you find something you want to do with artwork which is not covered or explicitly not permitted by our license, you can directly contact us via contact@anime-girl.com. We then figure out a custom license which exactly fits your needs together.
